Tata Indigo Vista Coming in Early 2009
Tata Indigo Vista
Expected in Early 2009
Estimated price: Rs 5 - 7 lakh
Tata will roll out the Indigo Vista, based on the platform of its earlier launched Indica Vista. The Indigo Vista diesel will be equipped with the 1.3l multijet engine of the Fiat Linea with Variable Geometric Turbocharger. The petrol variant of the Indigo Vista should be equipped with the 1.4l petrol engine powering the current Indigo.
Engine:
The 1.3l Fiat multijet engine won’t disappoint in terms of performance and will be a perfect replacement for the current 1.4l turbocharged diesel Tata engine which needs an upgradation. The same Fiat Linea diesel powerplant equipped with a variable geometric turbo will pull the Indigo Vista with its 85 horses. This engine is highly efficient and reliable and produces a torque of 203Nm.
For the petrol variant, Tata continues to use its traditional 1.4l petrol engine which has been powering the Indica and the Indigo since their evolution. The 84bhp engine produces a maximum torque of 110Nm.
Features:
The Indigo Vista will be an extension of the Indica Vista, with both the cars sharing the same platform. The new Indigo Vista will have a longer wheelbase compared to the current Indigo. The car’s interiors will be similar to the Indica Vista with the speedometer at the centre of the dash, rather than the conventional right side.
The car could feature ABS and airbags if the Tata’s export the Indigo Vista. Due to a smaller price tag as compared to other cars, the car won’t be equipped with any other safety feature other than the seatbelts and child lock.
Competitors:
The Indigo Vista will compete with the Suzuki Swift Dzire, Renault Logan, Hyundai Accent, Ford Ikon and the Chevrolet Aveo. The Swift Dzire, the Logan and the Ikon is available in petrol and diesel hearts.
The Fiat 1.3l multijet engine fitted along with the variable geometric turbo which is used in cars which is a notch higher compared to this range (like the Fiat Linea and the new SX4 diesel which will be launched soon) the Indigo Vista could have an edge over the rest in terms of performance.
